Ahhh yes, the Columbus Day weekend! After weeks of work and hectic travel, H and I needed a little getaway to recharge and refresh so we headed in search of the Fabulous Beekman Boys to Sharon Springs, NY.
In case you are not familiar with their show on Planet Green here’s the five second lowdown: successful couple living and working in Manhattan stumble upon secluded village in upstate New York, fall in love with historic mansion and decide to become “gentleman farmers”. The rest is history, as they say.
We were not sure what to expect when arriving in Sharon Springs but we were not disappointed. The quaint village is nestled between rolling hills dotted with red barns, ponds and of course, cows. Fall was already in full swing and the trees and meadows were a riot of colors.
We stayed at the American Hotel, a grand, old building in the center of the town. The food was amazing, the staff super friendly and the owners, Garth and Doug, simply charming!
Oliver had a wonderful time running around the hotel grounds!
And I had a lot of fun sampling hand-made goat milk soap at the Beekman 1802 Mercantile and wandering around the vintage shops on Main Street.
It was one of the best weekend holidays we’ve had in a while and we’re planning to go back soon.
